Henry’s Update from April

Henryk Król Co-Founder, President DeoLink

Dear Friends,
Warm greetings!

Spring is just around the corner! Although we are still experiencing some weather surprises — even an occasional snowfall (!) — life goes on.

Spring is coming! After one of our meetings

We recently had a visit from a pastor from Ukraine. I always value such moments deeply. With so much noise and conflicting information in the news about the nearby war, it can be difficult to discern what is truly happening. Hearing from a trusted, firsthand witness brings much-needed clarity and perspective. Do you find the same?

From right – Pastor Maxim, Vitalij, me

Naturally, I asked him how life has been over these more than four years of war. His city, Dnipro, is located about 25 km (18 miles) from the front line. They are frequently targeted by ballistic missiles and drones, often hitting public infrastructure and residential buildings, with innocent people being killed or injured.

His church has around 300 members. About 25% of the men have been drafted into the army, and 12% have lost their lives. There are deep and very human tensions — especially between widows and those whose husbands are still alive. Many difficult questions are being asked. Men who have avoided conscription often struggle with guilt, withdraw, and face significant emotional challenges. While their faith remains, the harsh reality of daily life often pushes them into a kind of survival mode.

There is also widespread corruption, sometimes expressed through a lack of accountability for decisions that cost lives — both within the military and beyond. Many people would accept almost any peace agreement simply to bring an end to the killing. The war feels very close and very personal. Very few children are being born.

And yet, in the midst of all this, the Gospel continues to reach hearts. The series The Chosen has helped many people encounter Jesus in a personal way. Our digital program “Hope in UA,” based on evangelistic courses and coach relationships, has already reached over 71.752 people. Still, the cost they are paying is immense.
Please do pray — for peace, but also for a spiritual renewal that would restore hope to the nation.

Our “Second step” ministry also organized a “Steps to Freedom”, conference in Warsaw, our capital city.

Over 140 people gathered to learn about how Christians can be helping people with addictions.

Our team at the conference

It was designed for those interested in helping people — both digitally and in person — who are struggling with addictions and various life challenges. The event was very well attended, with 140 participants, and was received with great enthusiasm. We are reminded once again that the Lord is able to work even in situations that seem humanly impossible.

On a very different note, Filip and Peter were in the United States attending the Missional AI conference in Silicon Valley. Here are some of their key takeaways:
AI is here, already helping global missions – helping to translate the Bible into new languages, organizing the archives and libraries of christian content, answering millions of questions about faith through variety of dedicated christian chats and apps.
The challenge that we have is – how ai can actually empower Christians to connect with people looking for God. This is a topic that is close to our heart as we believe the Church should be associated with authentic relationships, people and place for connection. Offline is the best option, but as we know, online is also very fruitful. We believe AI can support that and increase our scale and depth of human interactions.

This year “Missional AI” conference took place in Silicon Valley. Great time of connection and inspiration for the Christians in the tech space.

Feedback form the participants of “Living with an Addicted Person” course on the Second Step platform:

“I have struggled with codependency for 40 years. Even though I already had some knowledge about the issue, this course helped me see it from a different perspective. It offers many valuable insights and clearly explains the process of codependency—how it begins and what can be done to overcome it. I especially appreciated the way the information was presented: clear, concise, and to the point. Thank you—I highly recommend it to everyone.”

“I didn’t realize I was struggling with codependency. This course helped me understand what it really is. I’m glad it’s free and available online—there’s no need to search or figure things out on your own. Everything is easily accessible and presented in a clear, condensed way.”

“There is so much valuable information and many helpful explanations. It’s no exaggeration to say—you’ve opened my eyes. Thank you!”

“For the first time in several months, I felt supported.”

“I really appreciated the clear and comprehensive approach to the topic. It’s non-judgmental, yet clearly points out where the problem may lie. I wasn’t aware of my own unhealthy behaviors and their real consequences. Now I better understand why I feel the way I do and what I can do about it. I highly recommend it.”
